MEET THE AUTHOR
FEATURED AUTHOR: VANIA RHEAULT
Hi everyone, it is Jacks. Today, I am stopping in to share an incredible interview. I had the delight of sitting down with the very talented and highly refreshing author Vania Rheault. I was excited before our chat to read more from her, but now after our exhilarating exchange I cannot wait for her book release! Let’s hear what she had to say:
Hi Vania! Welcome to Silver Beans Café. We are pleased to have you here today. Thank you for taking time out to meet with us. Having said that, let’s get this interview started.
So Vania, how about we GET TO KNOW YOU better. Can you tell SBC what genres you write?
I write a mix of genres. Right now I am preparing to release a romance/fantasy. I am also editing a contemporary romance and writing its companion. I have a five book fantasy series almost finished that I plan to edit and possibly independently release next year. I also have an idea bouncing around my head for a young adult novel. I’m not sure when I’ll get to that, though.
They all sound like great reads. You are going to have your hands busy.
So, let’s talk about your novellas that are about to be released. I know you mentioned that it is one cover and two books inside, WHAT ARE THE TITLES?
The titles of my indie novellas that will be released at the end of June are called 1700 Hamilton, and On the Corner of Hamilton and Main.
Great titles!
As I take a moment to jot them down, let’s back track a bit. Let me ask you, HOW DID YOU START WRITING?
I’ve been writing since high school, and I always received great grades in English in school. I went on to get a degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing.
So Vania, tell me, when did you KNOW IT WAS YOUR CALLING?
I always knew I wanted to write, but I haven’t done anything seriously with it until recently. Two years ago I graduated with a degree in Human Resources. When I couldn’t get a job, I started writing. Not getting hired turned into a great opportunity and I haven’t looked back.
And by the sneak peeks that you have given us via the teasers, your readers will be glad that you did!
So Vania, when you step away from writing, are there ANY OTHER INTERESTS that you find enjoyable?
Until writing took up most of my days, I was an avid runner. In September of 2015 I ran a half marathon. I’ve neglected that, but once 1700 Hamilton/On the Corner of Hamilton and Main is released, I would like to get back into it. I would think through a lot of plot points and write dialogue in my head. I miss it.
Speaking of brainstorming, WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
Everything. Anywhere. My interests, my hobbies. Threads of plots I’ve thought about for years. I wrote a short story based on a writing prompt I found on Twitter. Everything is fair game.
I find it wildly fascinating to see how an author populates the content or arrives at the ideas in their individual book. And I must say, I absolutely delight in how you do it Vania. Every element or encounter in your life does not go unnoticed by you, and that is thrilling.
Vania, let’s shift gears here a little, can you share more ABOUT THE BOOK and WHAT SOMEONE SHOULD EXPECT WHEN READING IT?
Both, 1700 Hamilton and On the Corner of Hamilton and Main are fun. A reader can expect a lot of laughs, a little romance, and maybe a touch of magic too. All of my books will have a hint of romance; I adore a good love story. And is it too much of a spoiler to say a reader could probably always expect a happy ending?
Are you kidding Vania, I think that readers are going to want to read it more now! I know I want to! I am a fan of the happy ending!
I know I asked where you draw your inspiration for your work, in general, but I want to know WHERE DID YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM FOR YOUR CURRENT NOVELLAS?
It didn’t occur to me to write a novella until I saw others on Twitter doing it. It sounded fun, and it would be a distraction from editing. As I was writing it in one point of view, I thought it would be interesting to write the same story in a different point of view. Having said that, I don’t know where the actual story idea came from. I’m very much a pantser [fly by the seat of pants/ create story as writing writer] and I’m not afraid to admit it.
Ooh, what a fun idea! This does sound quite intriguing, fresh, and is an amazingly clever choice as far as storytelling.
Vania, continuing the curiosity, as you were writing this, did you discover ANY TRACES OF YOUR PERSONALITY IN YOUR MAIN CHARACTER?
Of course! She’s short with my coloring. I can’t help it. She likes coffee and is a homebody like me.
That so cute! She sounds like a lively character, and I am rooting for her already!
If you had to select one, what is one of your FAVORITE ELEMENTS ABOUT THIS SERIES?
My favorite thing is you don’t have to read them together to enjoy them. I was going to publish them separately, then was told it was a better idea to publish them together. They complement each other, but the stories don’t depend on each other to make sense or to be enjoyed by a reader.
Think that is a great choice! It is such a treat that readers will have the chance to read it all now!
Ok Vania, take a second to think about this next question. In your books or in any of the books out there, WHO IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND WHY?
My favorite fictional character is Brett from Hemingway’s The
Sun Also Rises. She’s so vile, but she doesn’t know she is.
Characters just have a way of touching us, and Brett is a great choice!
Sometimes, here at SBC, we like to ask a few SPEED ROUND QUESTIONS. All of these questions will be SOMETHING SPECIFIC TO YOU. So here goes Vania. Here are three questions:
What is your BLOG OR WEBSITE ADDRESS?
www.Vaniamargene.wordpress.com
Are you ON TWITTER?
Yes (@V_Rheault)
Do you have an AUTHOR PAGE ON FACEBOOK?
I haven’t set up an Author Page on Facebook yet, but when I do, you’ll be the first to know!
Thanks Vania, for doing the SPEED ROUND with me. Now I just have a couple more questions.
So, I have to ask you, WHO IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS?
Growing up I liked Francine Pascal who wrote the Sweet Valley High series.
I agree, having read those too, they are great books!
You mentioned that you were on Twitter, HAVE YOU DISCOVERED ANY NEW AUTHORS YOU LIKE?
I have enjoyed reading other authors I have found on Twitter, and I have read works from @JewelELeonard and @ThomasJast among others.
Will have to check those out!
So Vania, if you could share, what would you say is:
One of the BEST PIECES OF ADVICE that you received or A QUOTE THAT YOU LIVE BY?
You can’t edit a blank page – Nora Roberts. That is so true, and it keeps me writing.
THE TIP you would like TO SHARE WITH ASPIRING AUTHORS?
Don’t compare yourself to other writers. Always do your best and at some point, that will be enough.
Those are great, extremely solid helps!
I now just have to ask Vania, WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?
The novellas 1700 Hamilton and On the Corner of Hamilton and Main will be released at the end of June 2016.
What should people expect to SEE FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE?
My contemporary romance, Running to Love will be edited and I will be writing the companion, On the Path to Love this summer.
If all goes well, I will release them both by the end of the year.
What are you MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
I am very excited to be releasing 1700 Hamilton and On the
Corner of Hamilton and Main. This is my first publishing experience and I can’t wait. I’ve researched a lot about the process and I am having a lot of fun.
After those, you know that I have to ask, HOW CAN WE BUY IT?
You’ll be able to buy my book on Amazon through Kindle and CreateSpace.
In just a moment readers, at the conclusion of the interview, you will be able to READ THE BLURBS, but first HOW CAN READERS FIND YOU?
Please follow me on Twitter at @V_Rheault.
Author Vania Rheault, thank you so much for taking time out to talk with me for SBC! Wishing you all the best for your upcoming release! Please stop in and see us again soon!
And now, the sneak peeks…
1700 Hamilton
While drowning his sorrows in a small downtown bar, Ben Langdon meets Lila. Only problem? She’s taken. Cutting his losses, he heads home.
Intercepted by a phone call from a stranger pleading for help and an address he doesn’t recognize, Ben is led to The Maze, an eerie dance club of which he knows little except its motto: “One way in. No way out.”
Leaving behind the woman of his dreams, Ben steps into the nightmare of his life.
On the Corner of Hamilton and Main
As Lila Donahue is acting as maid of honor for her best friend, she meets Ben in a little downtown bar on the night of the bachelorette party. He disappears into the cold night’s air, and because of the celebration, Lila tries to forget about him.
Later that night, much to Lila’s dismay, the bride-to-be wants to party at The Maze.
Reluctantly, Lila participates only to be pulled into a reality that exceeds all her wildest dreams.
Bizarre, magical, surreal, 1700 Hamilton and On the Corner of Hamilton and Main are stories that will leave you gasping for breath until the very last page.
AND WE CAN’T WAIT FOR THE RELEASE!!!
