Summary |
The Navigator is a collection of stirring poems about past and the present and the weight it has on our decisions in the now. It awakens the reader to the honest truth that no decision is made with future knowledge, but with what we know at the time of our decisions. It reflects on the past and how we got to the present, our ancestor’s contributions and the legacy that they left and now we will leave. We alone are the ones to move the future forward. The only action that can be taken is in the now.

3 words to describe this novel: Stirring, Change, and Refreshing
The Navigator is a refreshing collection of poems that I connected with. It made me sit back and think, what does it mean to me? I love poetry that is moving yet disturbs you in a good way. This does that. Although there are many that resonated with me, my personal favorite poem within the collection was The Magic Within. A definite highlight of the collection to me was the author notes at the conclusion of the collection. In each Annelisa Christensen speaks to the reader about her thoughts of why she wrote each poem. She does it in a way to prick your mind to start thinking even more about what was written. It helps you to take your thoughts to the next level. Although she shared her thoughts, she leaves it open to the endless places your mind can go with the poems. I loved that! I am extremely picky about poetry, and I give this 4 STARS! It is a very good read. I am looking forward to reading the other poems that she has just released. Thanks, Annelisa for writing this one! It really made me think! Jacks, Silver Beans Café Reviewer |
