I got the chance to chat with the very talented and lovely author Lexi Miles this week. I was privilege to have a sit down with her and ask her some questions. Here is what she said…
So Ms. Miles, can you tell us a little about WHY YOU WRITE?
Oh my gosh where to begin? [She looked off in deep contemplation.] I write one because I love it. I know it sounds cheesy (a little laugh) but I do. You can take people anywhere. I enjoy that I am able to stir an emotional response in my readers. Plus (writing) it’s just fun to do.
Where do you PULL YOU INSPIRATION FROM?
From all things around me. Everything has a story… I guess just life in general.
What is ONE THINE EVERYONE SHOULD about Lexi Miles?
Okay what’s one thing everyone should know about Lexi Miles, I’d have to say I’m a huge fan of positivity. Love is life to me. And I think there is always something to smile about. [Said with a big smile on her face.]
What are SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS and DO YOU BRING THEM TO YOUR WRITING?
Yes (I do have several interests). I love to cook. Fitness. Beauty. Deep thinking is an interest of mine. (Answering the other part of the question) Yes, if it’s an interest of mine I try to get it in to my writing.
What was ONE OF THE FIRST NOVELS you liked and HOW DID IT INFLUENCE YOU?
There are three books that actually come to mind.
TIGER EYES by Judy Blume, GREEN EGGS AND HAM and THE CAT IN THE HAT both by Dr. Seuss. Each had powerful lessons. I know that GREEN EGGS AND HAM and THE CAT IN THE HAT aren't novels but bare with me I'm going somewhere with this. [She said smiling] For example in GREEN EGGS AND HAM I felt it taught me not to be afraid to try new things and for the CAT IN THE HAT to be responsible for my own things (messes, mistakes, and responsibilities). I thought if GREEN EGGS AND HAM and THE CAT IN THE HAT are just a short children’s stories with such powerful messages then think how much more I could learn from a full length novel (like TIGER EYES.) It taught me that novels where very powerful because you can learn so much from them.
